Meet Evan…

Evan is only three years old, but he can run rings around our nurses and health care assistants at Brian House – our children’s hospice!

Evan Probert - Brian HouseHowever, Evan has an Upper Spinal Cord Abnormality and Distal Motor Neuropathy, which means he cannot feel his fingers and has no fine motor skills – the ability to hold a paintbrush or a knife and fork with one hand.

This doesn’t stop Evan from playing or eating though! Using both hands, he can hold a paintbrush, has adapted cutlery for eating meals and enjoys playing with the larger toys at Brian House.

Evan stays at our children’s hospice for one day per week and overnight once month. Although shy with strangers, he likes to use the playground outside and is the first to play with melted chocolate eggs at Easter – soooo messy!  And he’d be the first to throw paint at Colour Splash…
